Omar Paloma

Originally from New York, Omar is the founder of the pioneering dance school iDance, and was the Artistic Director of Culture Shock Dance Troupe United Kingdom. He has appeared in Italy with Oumar Camera’s Compania di Afro Danza, and the U.S. with Jazz Unlimited, Black Mountain Dance, Southern California Youth Ballet, and the International Festival Ballet, under Erling Sunde.

Omar has received critical commendation for acting and his theatre credits include  Dreamgirls, Hair,  Good News, Oliver, Oklahoma, TV Commercials, and Videos. Omar was resident choreographer of The San Diego Links and has won a Tommy award for his comedy dance role in Erling Sunde’s Cinderella. Omar has taught at the prestigious Black Mountain Dance Centre and Chula Vista High School.

Omar teaches Hip-Hop, Street Dance, Jazz Dance, Ballet, Basic B-boy, Basic Popping and Locking. Most recently Omar, choreographed Hello Mr. Capello and Milestones at the Watford Palace Theatre and assisted Jonzi D on the original tour of TAG…Me vs the City now “TAG.. Just Writing My Name“, Playground as part of Breakin’ Convention at Sadlers Wells, and a special, invite-only performance, Reveal, for Google® at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Omar is Director of Hip Hop International United Kingdom and a frequent judge, guest teacher and speaker at international hip hop events in Russia, Finland, Italy, Greece.

Omar is also the creator of platformONE, a Choreographic showcase of Urban Dance at the Palace Theatre, Watford and the UK Hip Hop Dance Championships seen on BBC and Sky TV.

Omar has just completed co-authoring a dance syllabus used ad the Boris Eifman Ballet Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia, and a two-year contract as Interim Head of Dance at Jyvaskylan Ammatiopisto in Finland.
