The Five Bullet Concept

Five Bullet Friday is just stuff from my life that is interesting or useful. I hope you enjoy it and find it useful.

Book that I am reading

[easyazon_link identifier=”B01AIXEP1I” locale=”UK” tag=”idanceorg-21″]The Tao of Seneca[/easyazon_link]

Seneca was a playwright, a philosopher, and advisor to the powerful and, more importantly, a Stoic.

He lived a great life and enjoyed many successes, before his untimely death.

In his letter, however, he doesn't talk bling and gossip. Instead, he talks with level-headed common-sense.
In the words of author Tim Ferris, “his letters are pithy” and written in such a way that they read like good advice to a friend. You can insert any name into the text and it will feel somewhat down home.

My favourite (so far) is letter thirteen “on groundless fear” with incredible insights as

No prize fighter can go, with high spirits, into the strife if he has never been beaten black and blue.

To suggest that experience -perspective- even experience of failure is an important factor in success

And

There are more things… likely to frighten us than there are to crush us.

We suffer more often in imagination than in reality

Seneca's letter reminds us to live bold lives, most problems are fantasies vs real life.

What I am watching

[easyazon_link identifier=”0099510839″ locale=”UK” tag=”idanceorg-21″]Making a murderer[/easyazon_link] a Netflix documentary about a man who was falsely imprisoned for murder… Twice?

Purchase (or something) I am excited about

[easyazon_link identifier=”B0063AY46M” locale=”UK” tag=”idanceorg-21″]Polar Gear lunchbox[/easyazon_link] with soup bowl. I actually bought this item early January but I'm really liking it. It's not great for keeping things warm but I do like it for carrying my soup :).

It has carry bag with a soup bowl and plastic storage box suitable for salad or fresh fruit or sandwiches. Whatever. It's awesome. Even includes a built in spork. Costs only £5 at Amazon.

Ah Ha! or Tip of the week

The five bullet friday concept is a complete and shamelessly ripped off idea from Tim Ferris, author of the [easyazon_link identifier=”0091929113″ locale=”UK” tag=”idanceorg-21″ cart=”y”]4 Hour Work Week[/easyazon_link], [easyazon_link identifier=”0091939526″ locale=”UK” tag=”idanceorg-21″ cart=”y”]4 Hour Body[/easyazon_link] and [easyazon_link identifier=”1477800077″ locale=”UK” tag=”idanceorg-21″ cart=”y”]4 Hour Chef[/easyazon_link]. Tim is s self-experimenter who's inspired millions of high achievers to achieve even more.
